Title sequence for a documentary series journeying through India's folk traditions and the musicians and storytellers preserving them. I helped develop the concept and pitch, then worked on visual packaging, motion design, and compositing across the package.
Overview
A documentary series about India's folk traditions, the musicians and storytellers keeping cultural legacies alive across generations. We made the titles fully animated, with a painterly comp over CG so every frame would feel hand-painted rather than rendered.
Compositing was the heaviest lift for me on the package. The CG team handed me multilayer EXRs with lighting, texture, and motion vector passes baked in. I used the motion vectors to drive the painterly comp, so the brushstrokes track the direction of the moving elements in each scene: the bird's tilt, the vine's growth, the seeker's step. The paint reads as part of the world instead of laid on top of it.
