ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.
Broadcast opening sequence for the first ICC Men's T20 World Cup co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA. I did the motion design and compositing, building the package around the tournament's lightning-bolt brand.
Overview
The brief built everything on the tournament's lightning bolt: speed, power, impact. The concept reimagined the players as legends, statues crackling with electricity, set against treated archive footage and the trophy. CG delivered the renders. I rotoscoped the shots in the animatic so Goji could transform the players through AI. Then I composited the whole thing together: the lightning overlays, the motion graphics built around ICC's brand language, the treatment, and the final logo bumper.
The tricky part was the handoff from live action to AI. Video generation models then were nowhere near where they are now, so getting each transition to sit smoothly and frame-aligned took a lot of troubleshooting. ICC turnarounds never leave much room, and this one was the same.
